The William Cook Group is a British engineering company, founded in 1840. Their headquarters are in Sheffield, and they operate on a global scale - designing, manufacturing and distributing high quality industrial, defence and rail products to high profile customers worldwide. They are the largest producer of steel castings in the UK.
The Group required a redesign of their Cast Products website. The Company prides themselves on being at the cutting edge of technological and industrial advances, and their website needed to reflect this innovative approach to engineering solutions. The key aim of the redesign was to raise a greater awareness of the Company’s products and services to potential and existing clients, in a streamlined way.
What We Did
The new Cast Products website has been designed to act as an online brochure, clearly displaying all relevant contact, product and service information. The site was designed to complement the existing printed promotional materials, through using similar design elements as the Group’s brochures and exhibition stands.
We worked closely with the Group Chairman to create a bold design, that embodies the Company’s dynamic approach to engineering, and the Chairman’s strong vision for the future of the Company. The angled image aesthetic utilised throughout the site is a nod to the Company’s forward-thinking attitude, and the bespoke imagery used gives website visitors a peek into the modern William Cook factories where the bespoke work is produced.
Features implemented into the new site include an interactive timeline that guides users through the history of William Cook, as well as fully configurable dynamic product and service pages. Designed with an interchangeable layout, the website has been built with a bespoke, easy to use CMS (Content Management System), to make it easy for updates to the website to be undertaken by the Group admin.
Also built into the site is the ability to change the language, depending on the territory. This gives the Group the flexibility to tailor the new website to different global markets, reaching out in clients’ own languages.
A prominent call to action was built in to the site to be always visible, encouraging people to make an enquiry, regardless of which page they were visiting. Strong, clear calls to action ultimately increase the likelihood of converting site visitors into enquiries.
The new Cast Products website has a clear, navigable layout, and the site reflects the personality of the Group through careful colour choice and imagery. The unique photography throughout the site showcases William Cook Cast Products’ expertise, and feature several of the solutions they have designed and manufactured.
The site is highly image-driven, with minimal wordy content to detract from this impact. However, the site also features a lively News section, that is very easy for the Company’s internal Press Team to edit and update thanks to the user-friendly bespoke content management system that was built to their exact requirements.
