
The Challenge
Kidscape’s previous website had grown outdated and difficult to manage. It lacked the flexibility to support modern user journeys, especially for the diverse range of audiences it needed to serve, from young people and parents to educators and donors. Navigation was complex, content was hard to surface, and the donation process was inefficient due to high payment processing fees and limited control.
Equally important were the systems behind the scenes. The website previously operated as a silo, with limited integration into the charity’s wider operations. Key data, such as donations, form submissions, and subscription sign-ups, had to be handled manually before being entered into Salesforce, the charity’s CRM. This created inefficiencies, increased the risk of data loss or duplication, and limited the team’s ability to act on insights quickly.
The solution needed to modernise the user experience and improve operational efficiency, all while supporting future growth and minimising technical debt.


What We Did
Hydra Creative developed a flexible, high-performance website built using a React front end and headless WordPress CMS. This architecture offers the best of both worlds: a fast, responsive user interface powered by React, and a user-friendly, decoupled CMS that gives the Kidscape team full control over content updates and site structure.
React allowed us to deliver a fast, app-like experience across desktop and mobile, with dynamic page transitions and efficient rendering, ensuring that users could navigate the site smoothly and access resources quickly. Meanwhile, WordPress was used purely as a headless content hub, allowing Kidscape’s team to manage pages, articles, resources, and SEO content via a familiar and intuitive interface, without impacting front-end performance.
To support Kidscape’s organisational goals, we designed personalised landing pages for different user groups, allowing children, families, and professionals to find tailored resources directly from the homepage. A dynamic filtering system was added, enabling visitors to sort content by type, subject, or language, dramatically improving content discoverability and time-on-site.
On the operational side, we introduced a powerful Salesforce integration, connecting the website directly to Kidscape’s CRM. Contact form entries, newsletter subscriptions, and gated content access are now automatically routed into Salesforce in real time. This removes the need for manual data entry, reduces errors, and ensures that the team has immediate access to supporter insights. The result is a more streamlined, responsive communications and fundraising workflow, and a better experience for Kidscape’s community.
We also replaced the legacy donation platform with a Stripe integration, reducing transaction fees and improving the user experience. This system is designed to scale, with the flexibility to add features such as workshop bookings or merchandise payments in the future.
To help build Kidscape’s email list, we implemented a cookie-based subscription wall on selected resources, requiring users to subscribe before gaining access. Once signed up, returning users are remembered, striking the right balance between user convenience and lead generation.

The Result
The new Kidscape website launched successfully, delivering both an improved experience for users and meaningful operational benefits for the organisation. Engagement levels are higher, with users spending more time on the site and interacting with more content. Navigation is clearer and more intuitive, and the dynamic filtering system makes it easier for people to find the resources they need.
The integration with Stripe has made the donation process smoother and more cost-effective, while the Salesforce connection has transformed the way Kidscape handles supporter data. The team now has access to real-time insights on website interactions, enabling them to better understand their audience and tailor their communications accordingly.
The technical foundation of React and headless WordPress has also proven effective. Page load speeds are significantly faster, and the system is both secure and scalable, allowing the site to evolve alongside the charity’s growth and adapt to new campaigns, content types, or platform integrations in the future.

Our partnership with Kidscape continues beyond the initial build. Hydra Creative provides ongoing maintenance and technical support, ensuring the site remains secure, updated, and performing at its best. We manage plugin updates, conduct regular performance checks, and respond quickly to technical issues as they arise.
We also support monthly content updates, helping the Kidscape team launch new initiatives, publish fresh resources, and optimise their content structure. Whether adding campaign pages, updating training details, or advising on user experience improvements, our team is on hand to provide continuity and expertise.
In addition, we deliver technical SEO support to help Kidscape reach a wider audience through organic search. This includes metadata optimisation, accessibility improvements, sitemap management, and performance monitoring, all aimed at increasing visibility and supporting long-term digital impact.
