The Challenge

Andy’s Man Club runs a hundred free support groups across the UK with the aim of reducing the suicide rate in men.

The charity needed to raise its profile to encourage more men to attend these groups and share issues in a non-judgemental environment. They wanted to do this through captivating video content to promote a sponsored football match held on World Suicide Prevention Day, between Altrincham FC and Wealdstone FC.  The videos also needed to explain what the charity was all about, and the benefits support sessions can have.

And they needed to do it in just 48 hours…

The Solution

Hydra’s video experts jumped straight on this opportunity once it was posted on LinkedIn, but there were only two days between an initial briefing and when filming needed to take place. There was then just a week to edit three videos - so timing was crucial.

Our video team travelled to Altrincham FC to film Andy’s Man Club hosting a talk with the first team, as well as interviewing players and staff about the subject of male suicide.

We captured the essence of Andy’s Man Club by focusing on the football players’ reactions to the talk. These young men are just like all of us, and may need an outlet to tackle their mental health issues in a safe environment.

Finally, we pulled out all the stops and worked tirelessly to make sure we hit the short deadline.

The impact

The video reached more than 9,000 people when launched, with 3,000 views across Facebook and LinkedIn. It’s had excellent engagement, with lots of positive comments and hundreds of likes flooding in from people who resonated with the subject.

Most importantly, the Andy’s Man Club team felt we had hit the back of the net.
